Uniondale High School families learned some important tips as they prepare to send their students to college.

The high school held its College Information Night event Wednesday evening with several workshops.

The event featured tips on applying for scholarships and financial aid and learning about SUNY schools.

Uniondale High School Assistant Principal Rochelle Brown just sent a child of her own to college. As her students’ families prepare to do the same, she says to take it all one step at a time when starting the process.

"Take it step by step, they got this. We believe in them,” she said. “We're here to support them, but they got this. Just take a lot of notes, apply for a lot of scholarships, but definitely do your homework and they can attend the college of their dreams."

Admissions counselors from several colleges and universities also attended the event to give their inside know-how to families.
